About the project

The Food Skills Cymru programme delivered by Lantra supports businesses within the Welsh food and drink processing and manufacturing industry to ensure employees have the right skills and training for their business and the wider industry as a whole.

Working across all sectors within the Welsh food and drink industry, it aims to prepare employees across Wales to adapt to future economic and environmental challenges and position them to capitalise on opportunities for business development and growth.

Eligible businesses wanting to access the funding available to support with the cost of completing training courses will firstly work with the Lantra team and complete a Skills Diagnostic Tool that will help businesses identify and prioritise training needs. To get started visit our funding page.

An element of the programme covers ‘Wales. A Food Destination’ which supports Welsh businesses from the hospitality sector to source serve or sell Welsh food and drink through cafes, restaurants, shops, farmers markets, food festivals, B&B’s, tourist attractions etc. This includes a range of toolkits, one-to-one mentoring, through to larger workshops and events.

Lantra has received funding through the Welsh Government Rural Communities – Rural Development Programme 2014-2020, which is funded by the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development and the Welsh Government to deliver the Food Skills Cymru programme.
