Decarbonisation Workshops

January - March 2023

Location: Virtual
Time:

Building on the success of a pilot project run in the autumn of 2022, Food Skills Cymru working in partnership with GEP Environmental will be delivering a series of decarbonisation training workshops in early 2023. The workshops focus on raising the awareness on the importance of moving towards net zero for the sector, Wales, UK and global benefits by providing beneficiaries with the right skills to make decisions on how they can move towards net zero, share best practice with colleagues and implement changes to their business strategies, technology and process design in all day to day working practices.

The workshops are delivered online and are fully funded for food and drink manufacturing businesses. They are interactive and allow plenty of discussion for participants to share their own experience through breakout sessions and allow plenty of time to ask the experts questions.

Workshop 1: Energy Efficiency and Management for the Food & Beverage Sector

By the end of the course, you will be:

  • Aware of the importance of moving the Food & Beverage sector towards Net Zero Carbon, and how Energy Efficiency and Management can support this.
  • Familiar with a range of Energy Efficiency and Management actions that could be implemented by your organisation to reduce energy consumption and carbon emissions.
  • Aware of the practical applications of different Energy Efficiency and Management actions and able to outline whether these actions might be feasible to implement within your organisation.
  • Able to communicate to others how Energy Efficiency and Management actions will support your organisation with its decarbonisation.

Workshop 2: Renewables Generation Systems for the Food & Beverage Sector

By the end of the course, you will be:

Workshop 5: Decarbonisation of Food Waste and Packaging for the Food & Beverage Sector

By the end of the course, you will be:

  • Aware of the importance of moving the Food & Beverage sector towards Net Zero Carbon, with focus on the GHG emissions associated with food waste.
  • Familiar with the Waste Hierarchy and how to apply this good practice waste management approach to both food and packaging materials.
  • Aware of the “true cost” of food and packaging waste by looking at the hidden financial and business impacts.
  • Aware of a range of food waste and packaging decarbonisation actions that could be implemented by your organisation, including familiarity with Measuring, Monitoring and Targeting techniques.
