Training support available for your business

Food Skills Cymru offers training support to businesses in a range of crucial areas in the food and drink processing and manufacturing industry in Wales.

Sustainability Training Programme

Sustainable development is at the heart of our founding legislation here in Wales and to support Welsh Government achieve their targets, we have recently worked in collaboration with Cynnal Cymru and EcoStudio to develop a Sustainability Training Programme specifically for the food and drink manufacturing industry.

The purpose of the training course is to equip participants with the knowledge and skills to develop systems and actions appropriate to their situation that address environmental management and social impact.

Course modules address specific elements of sustainability including decarbonisation, zero waste, support for natural systems, fair and responsible employment, social and staff well-being, and community impact. This leads on to participants being able to develop their own bespoke sustainability strategy that will be coherent with government policy at a Welsh and UK level.

The course gives participants lots of opportunity for discussion, group work and learning from peers. All participants are required to produce a sustainable development strategy appropriate to their business by the end of the course.

Training will take place over the following dates:

• 5 October
• 9 November

Supported courses

Working across all sectors of the Welsh food and drink industry, our aim is to prepare employees across Wales to adapt to future economic and environmental challenges and position them to be able to capitalise on opportunities for business development and growth.

Food Skills Cymru will consider funding any training needs that an individual business may have, from accredited training to bespoke tailor-made courses.

Eligible businesses wanting to access funding available to support with the cost of completing training courses will firstly work with the Food Skills Cymru team to complete a Skills Diagnostic Tool that will help businesses identify and prioritise their training needs.
